The only animation, games and digital art festival in the Baltic States, BLON, is expanding its boundaries this year – September 11–14, it will take place in Palanga for the first time. The eleventh edition of the festival will present a specially curated program of animated films and virtual reality works for the city.
“We are very happy about this step – we want animation to reach more people and not be limited to just one place or hall. For the first acquaintance with the Palanga audience, we have prepared a diverse, open, and warm program that would encourage not only watching but also communicating with creators and trying new experiences themselves,” says Svetlana Bezuglova, BLON festival program director.
The Palanga audience will see full-length films for children, a competitive program of Lithuanian creators, international short films for young viewers, and will also have the opportunity to meet film authors and experience virtual reality works.
The festival will also present a unique special animation program “Southern European Voices,” prepared together with five animation festivals from Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Spain.
“This program opens a window into the Southern European creative field and presents the best authorial short films – from bold new voices to recognized masters,” says S. Bezuglova.
Events in Palanga will take place at the Jonas Šliūpas Museum and Palanga Cultural Centre. The full program and tickets can be found on the BLON festival website: blon.lt/2025/palanga
